Feng Shui Poop

I just finished Clear Your Clutter with Feng Shui and think it’s one of the best books on clutter that I’ve read. While the book talks about Feng Shui, it isn’t about the tiger in the prosperity corner of your Baqua, but about how clutter drags you down affecting all areas. You’re probably wondering what the heck does clutter have to do with running?  Chapter 18 talks about clutter clearing your body.  You got it…poop. As runners we have all asked the question how to control the poop and keep the brown monster from peeking out it’s grotesque little head at inopportune moments.  The more you run you’ve probably had more bush stops than you care to admit.

Kingston says “People who collect clutter on the outside can collect it on the inside too, but whereas clutter on the outside can hamper your progress in life, clutter on the inside can have even more serious health-threatening or even life threatening consequences.”  In chapter 18 Kingston talks about the benefit of colon cleansing and toilet habits of the west verses the east. She comments that Balinese babies get toilet trained much quicker than Western babies because they aren’t dressed up in diapers and figure out what is going on sooner and she notes that Western people “feel disgusted at the thought of their own excrement”. She also believes one of the reason Westerners have high rates of colon diseases are due to the Western toilet.  In the East people squat, opening up the colon and in the West sitting on the throne constricts the colon.  To help remedy this when using a Western toilet sit up straight and raise both arms high above your heading opening up the intestinal tract which simulates squatting.

So next time you are fretting over your body cooperating and trying to poop before a run, try sitting up tall and straight on the throne, lifting your arms high above your head and yell out your "Reach for the Stars".  You may have to give up your morning paper to accomplish this but if you’re done sooner, you didn’t have time to read anyways. If this didn't bore the crap out of you and you wondering how else can you poop before you run, you can visit my Got Poop post.

Happy Running!

Poop for thought! So interesting. I'm proud to say I get up every morning and go right away...makes the runs less complicated, no?

Fascinating! I'll have to try throwing my hands up when the process takes too long ;)
