Sole Sports- Summer 5K

Free! Free! Free! was the cost of this 5k celebrating the one year anniversary of Sole Sports running store in Scottsdale.

Wanting to snag the free socks for the first 50 runners, I arrived an hour early and then went for a warm-up run. It's an oxymoron to "warm-up" when it's already 80+ degrees outside.  My warm-up run was dual purpose.  Not only did it allow me to work out the kinks to be ready for the race but coupled with the race miles, it would all count as my long run.

One of the reasons I love to race is to see my running friends. Ragnar Rae and my friend Jessie met me at the race and it was great hanging out with them before and after the race.  The race itself was low key with only a timing clock but they still had great food and awesome door prizes (which I didn't win).  It's funny because during the race I didn't notice how hot it was.  If I were to run 3 miles by myself, I would be miserably hot.

I think I finished in 23:15. I forgot to make mental note of the finishing time and at the start forgot to set the Garmin to find the satellites so I didn't have a true finishing time.  I'm pleased with how the race went because it is summer and running any quick pace is big effort for me.

My friend Jessie is a budding runner and got a PR yesterday, 32 something so I'm going to give her my free socks as a PResent.

Happy Running!

80+ degrees fahrenheit, it's about 26° celsius and isn't bad. Your time taken of 23:15 is good for a 5km race! And running socks is a great loot :)
Have a nice Sunday, Christina!
