Weekly Wrap-Up and Cherry on Top

Weekly Wrap-Up
About a year ago, I wrote wrap-ups weekly (stolen from from Sneakersister).  I got away from doing it.  Anything that requires me to do something weekly or monthly I stray away from because it becomes a stressor. At least until the half marathon, I will again try and do a weekly wrap-up. This should help keep me focused, on track and help me analyze my running.

Monday- 5.67 miles @ 8:42 pace.  run on canal. wanted it to be goal paced but didn't have it. Fastest mile of 8:15
Tuesday- Despite my terrible eating during the day, I had a good track workout of 10x400's
Wednesday- Off
Thursday- A Mountain Hill workout
Friday - Off.
Saturday- 10 miler on canal. 9:28 avg pace.  Fastest mile 8:57.  It was going to be a 13 miler until I found out how hot it was and knew the last miles would be in the sun. It was hot; I felt very tired and listless supporting my decision to cut the miles. I was tired and sluggish all day after the run. Having a mild cold doesn't help either.
Sunday- 6.8 mile trail run.  Felt better than Saturday during the run but again substantially worn out after the run. I need to focus on picking up my feet more on a trail run. Did 4 strength/core exercises.

Total Miles 29.76

Eating: I had one bad day of eating but am proud that I turned down dessert two times during the weekend. I did have a glass of wine with dinner last night and may have one today too. Red wine is always good for the heart, right?

I thought my goal pace for the half was 8's but my PR last time was 7:58 so that means that my goal pace miles need to be at 7:57 pace to get a PR for my next half. The heat is preventing me from hitting those paces. Once it cools off my runs will be a better indicator of my conditioning.

Cherry on Top
Giorgio gave me the Cherry on Top award.

The deal with this award above mentioned is you gotta do these 3 things:
1) Answer this question: if you had the chance to go back and change one thing in your life, would you and what would it be?
2) Pick 6 people and give them this award. You then have to inform the persons that they have got this award.
3) The third and the final thing is, thank the person who gave you the award

These awards that migrate to everyone are funny things.  Who thinks of the award that like a chain email, that eventually gets distributed to everyone?  Is it actually meaningful?  What I do like about the awards is that you learn something about the person receiving it and giving it.  I would never think of asking someone what one thing would they change.  So thank you Giorgio for giving me the award and sharing about what you would have done different.

I've thought about this question for the last week and I know that looking back on the past with regret is completely unsupportive for me.  I am where I am supposed to be.  My life would be completely different if the decisions I made in my younger years were different. The thing I would have done different is getting married so young.   I would have finished school on the 4 year plan instead of the 7 year plan and maybe I would have molded me instead of conforming for someone else.

Since I've seen many bloggy friends already receive this award, I'm going to let this thread stop and not give the award to 6 other people.

Happy Running!

good point - where do these "blog forwards" come from? hmmm.

i do weekly recaps for myself really - keep track of my stats, recap what i did (or didn't do that i should've). usually it helps keep me on track, usually.

Hi Christina, I am impressed you turned down two desserts. And, your one glass of wine didn't become two :-) Nice work.

I tried to look up the origins of some of these blog forwards and I wasn't able to find anything.

Thank you for being so honest about your life. ::hugs::

Looks like your training is going well for the half. I have a glass of red wine from time to time. That is actually the only alcohol I drink. Sometimes I go a few months without even the red wine, but I must admit one of my favorite treats is red wine with freshly baked bread. Have a good week!

I hope the heat breaks for you so you can hit your goal pace for training! Plus, I gave you that same award on my blog :) I always delete chain letters, but seem to pass on these silly "awards." Strange. Have a great weekend.

But I haven't received the award yet...LOL!

Only one bad day of eating?!? I might need some help on that one--labor day weekend is killing my diet :)
