Long Run at Goal Pace

14 miles was on the schedule today. It was supposed to be 12 but since I missed my Monday run I needed to make up some miles. I was happy though that it was a shorter run. The weather is awesome right now. Although it is still in the 100's in the day, it is cooling off at night making the mornings wonderful to run in. There were a lot of people out there on the canal today and I wonder what they are training for. Usually I don't see the runners until I'm at mile 4 or 5 and then I see the Team in Training.

When I start off on my long runs I wonder if I can do it. Maybe its because I'm not warmed up or still half asleep but the beginning of a run is mentally challenging. Despite the doubt at the beginning, I ran an overall 8:34 pace and managed to stay very close to goal on each mile.

8:48
8:41
8:39
8:39
8:43
8:45
8:59 mile 7 and turn around point. Water stop and Garmin started/stopped. Actual pace would be better.

8:32
8:37
8:23
7:21

I did get a couple blisters on this run which is surprising. If I didn't get blisters with an 18 last week, why would I get them on a 14 this week? My poor little toes.

Happy Running

Pretty impressive pace for that distance. I haven't done the math but is that sufficient for a BQ? Well done.
