Running Question Challenge - What is your favorite running moment?

I was listening to the Phedipidations podcast and Steve is answering questions posed by his friend Joe. These questions were great and so I want to invite you a running question challenge.  I'll ask a question and answer it on my blog and you'll answer it also in your blog.  I have thought of 12 questions so far and will post one question (and my answer) weekly.  Although you could post a comment here, I thought it would be more fun to have you include it in your own blog where you can expand on the answer.

So?  Are you up for the running question challenge?

Happy Running!

What is your favorite running moment?

I don't have one favorite running moment like a race but I love running on trails.  I can't think of a specific trail run rather I remember fondly my trail runs.  I love the feeling of running outside through the desert (I really wish it was a pine forest) and having the rolling hills, rabbits and the occasional coyote.  There is something about being outside with nature that is peaceful and calming.  I enjoy looking at the Runners World Rave Run pictures and imaging being there and running through the trees, the meadows and the mountains.

Last year starting in February through mid-April, I ran trails at South Mountain on Wednesdays.  I'd forgotten about it until now.   I've been so focused on marathon training that I haven't run any trails lately but come March, I will get a couple weeks of trail running in before the heat gets bad.

I love the feeling of accomplishment at the end of my long runs. :) I also like that after my long run I head to Starbucks. :)

What a fun series idea! Maybe I can add it to my weekly training recap :)

I really like running outdoors too. I like that feeling when it's just you and nature. And maybe some music ;)

That is a very difficult question, especially for someone who has been running for 35 plus years. Certainly one of my favorites was running the 100th Boston Marathon with my brother. But chosing just one..very tough. Running in mainland China over 10 years ago was pretty special also. Having chinese soldiers smile and wave at you as you run by was a pretty surreal experience.

Great idea!

And running outside is my favorite too, I'm blessed to live by the beach. Lovely scenery.

Good idea! But I see your marathon is coming up and you asked some questions about the marathon...

I ran some 10K paced tempo runs leading up to the race.

I ate a GU every five miles through mile 20, which was my plan. Now I'm wondering if I need to eat more than that.

I don't think one gel would be enough for me, unless I was drinking Gatorade, also, but not at the same time.

That would be April 2010 when I ran my first 100 mile run.
