Running Question Challenge -If you could run a race in a country different from where you live, where would that be?

If you could run a race in a country different
 from where you live,
where would that be?

Overall Europe holds a fairyland romanticism about it.  Perhaps its because that is where kings and queens strolled the flower gardens with the exotic plants and the hedge mazes dressed in their rich gowns and jewels, or where knights in shining armor defended castles high on mountaintops or along the muddy river banks or maybe it is because everything is green, quaint and the foreign languages add a secrecy about the somehow better life they must lead living in Europe.

I would love to run a half marathon in Europe, preferably Germany and picture myself in the early morning shivering in the cold with the crowd trying to pick up bits and pieces from the German being spoken around me.  My dad wants to go to Germany and visit areas where our ancestors came from and perhaps if I go with him, while he is stalking through the cemeteries, that is what genealogists do, I would join the German runners and run through the streets where the kings and queens once strolled in their gowns and jewels.

I would love to run everywhere! France, Germany, Italy, London, definitely Australia, anywhere I could. If I ever take a trip abroad somewhere I would search for a race to run.

I have run in Bermuda and it was beautiful!

Definitely Australia and I'd really like to run in Ireland.

I think two come to mind instantly... first - The marathon in Greece, beings that's where it all started and second - the Great Wall of China, because it just looks really cool to run on that thing. Dublin would have to be right up there, too.

Germany as well. Hubby and I did an European tour a few years back and that was the one area where we wanted to return to when we had more time. It's beautiful.

Hi Christina, Hmmm....this is a hard one, but if I could only choose 1 country, it would have to be Sweden, and the Midnight Sun Marathon!
By the way, I am so glad I haven't missed your marathon, good luck and run fast!

Man, such a hard question; there are so many places I want to visit. The first marathon that came to mind though was the Great Wall Marathon - talk about a once in a lifetime experience.

I would love to run in Italy and experience all of the wonderful archetecture (sp?) over there. It would be beautiful!

I got your comment on my last post. I think that Erie is about half an hour north of Denver. I have never been there; what prompted his move?

Unlike most here I’ll travel to the US for this one! As before I’ve posted my answer on my blog.

Japan. I lived there as an exchange student, then went back for 3 months to just hang out. Now that I am running, it would be very cool to run in the Land of the Rising Sun.

one of my lifetime goals in the Dublin Marathon! my great grandparents lived outside of Dublin and I still have some family there that I've never met. It would be a great trip

That would be Washington DC and it would be the USMC Marathon in October each year. This is the one I will get to do one day.
