Ramblings

Needing to do something fun and exciting I decided to go to the dentist.  Actually a toothache on Sunday and a discomfort at 3am while laying awake thinking about EVERYTHING (shhh, brain...go back to sleep) spurred me to make a visit to my friendly dentist. Plus I was way overdue for a cleaning.  My normal dentist was out due to back surgery so the rent-a-dentist, Dr. Bob, was there in his place.  Actually I really liked Dr. Bob, who is a retired dentist doing temp work while being a snowbird.  I mentioned I was a runner and he said, Oh, you're a jogger?  No, I replied, I'm a runner.  A jogger is someone who goes out once every two to three months, does a couple miles, and doesn't do anything again for months.  Me, I'm an obsessed runner who dwells on all subjects running continually.  Besides the fact I'm not fast, like Kara or Usain, I missed my calling to be an elite runner.  I didn't explain all of this to him though instead we moved to the astounding topic of crowns and possibly a cracked tooth. Can you say lot$ of dollar$?

Opening ceremonies for the Olympics are today. I love the Olympics, watching the various athletes compete with what seems easy for them.  Like breathing, it is second nature to these athletes. I'm not into hockey but love most of the other ones, even the curling is interesting.  My favorite is all  various types of ice skating.  The costumes, the music and even holding the breath each time a jump is completed is so wonderful.  Oh, the joy of the Olympics.  Anyone else excited for the Olympics?  What is your favorite sport?

My cat is psychotic.  Dashing full speed through the house Nugget runs up and over the couch, scrambles around corners on tile floor loosing traction on the turn and attacks my other cat, Sundae. This is relatively new behavior and at 17 years old, I think it is quite unusual.  Nugget also LOVES to run over sleeping people at 2 am. John thinks Nugget's going senile and if Nugget keeps up the 2am wake-up call then I might wish I was senile so I wouldn't remember it in the morning.

Nugget in a moment of calm

 Sundae being pretty as ever

Have a great Friday and Happy Running!

The Luge - the only real reason to watch the Olympics!

My friend refers to running as jogging. For some reason it drives me NUTS.
Olympics, love them, especially winter ones. Favorite: downhill skiing (since I am a lousy skier), cross country skiing, skating - especially pairs.
Hope they will finally get some snow there and won't have to bring it on truck and helicopters.

I enjoy all the sports at winter Olympics mainly because they don't exist in my part of the world. I find it interesting.

At the summer games athletics and the marathon is top of the list. I enjoy the swimming as well.

17 years old! Wow! Mine lived to 21, so you have a bit while longer on those 2 am wake-ups :)

Hi, I found your blog via Tall Mom's High Five Friday post! Good luck this weekend!

As a former figure skater, figure skating is my favorite Winter Olympic sport. I'm so excited for these Olympics!

Well, I just don't know why everyone doesn't have Curling at the top of their lists.
And while short speed skating offers quick thrills, I think Skeleton is the most exciting.

Good luck at the IMS Arizona Marathon on Sunday!

Biathlon. I got my Dad into it back in the 80's, and he has been a rifle coach at 3 Oly's and many World Cup races. It is fun to see people who i have shared pizza with compete on the world's stage!

Love the Olympics! For whatever reason, I love curling! You are going to rock your race this weekend and I can't wait to read about it! I work for a dentist. Hard to imagine one tooth could cost as much as a tropical vacation!! Good Luck!!!!!!

I just had cat pics in my latest post too. Love cats! I love skating in the winter Olympics and swimming in the summer. I helped Michael Phelps win those golds through my intense concentration. I also love the skiing.

LOL at your reason for your blog name. "Jones" (my son) got that nickname from "lazy bones jones" because he's the laziest high energy kid around. You and he would probably get along LOL.

I love all the sports. Pretty sure my tv is going to be tuned to nbc for the next 2.5 weeks. I was lucky enough to go to the 1996 summer Olympics when I was little- unreal.

Am I excited about the Olympics? I was parked in front of my tv all night last night from 6:00 on counting down until I saw the athletes!

My favorite is the half pipe with the snowboarders!

Cute kitty cats girl!

I also went to the dentist this week, and it seems I 'need' to realign my teeth and other jolly things...all aesthetic mind you! Anyway, I am still in shock at the numbers. Yes, the olympics are great fun, since Turin is only 3 hrs away from Geneva, we went to see lots of events, so I was hoping to maybe take a trip to BC, but it is FAR AWAY! Anyway, I watch everything, esp biathlon, ski-jumping and of course, hockey!

Nugget sounds like she is just now learning how to have fun!

I wonder why the dc said "jogger" when you said runner. I wonder if there is a specific difference between the two terms. I agree with your definition. Another blogger was saying you are a "jogger" if you run slower than 10 min miles, but I thought that was kind of BS.
