Ramblings

What is the number one cause of forest fires?
A.Cigarettes
B. Camp fires
C. Matches
D. None of the above

The answer is TREES!
I love that cheesy joke.  What is your favorite cheesy joke?  I need some new ones to tell.

My friend Claudia is having open heart surgery next week.  She's a runner, had her first heart attack around 42 and her second one a 1.5 years later.   Almost two weeks ago after a trail run she told me she felt something was wrong.  She knew through her running, or inability to run at a good pace and distance, something was wrong.  She felt so convinced of this that she was willing to take me up on an offer to bring her to the hospital.  We didn't go that night but I sat with her while she made phone calls to a number of people, including the on-call cardiologist.  The next morning she was able to get an appointment where she learned she had two more arteries blocked 40-60% and this was after being told that it's not normal to have much blockage 2 months after having a stint. The doctor was wrong. Keep Claudia in your prayers and remember it's ok to listen to your body and not listen to the negative nay-sayers.  One of her friends even told her that maybe she should quit running because she's getting older.

I have a running skirt by Skirt Sports that I am giving away.  It is a marathon girl running skirt with spankies, size small, worn twice.  It has a pocket on the side.  The reason I'm getting rid of it is I like the extra cover a running skirt with shorties provides plus the length is too short for me. If you are a size small and would like it, please leave me a comment with your email address (write out "dot" to prevent crawlers from getting your email addy.  I'll do a random drawing the end of Sunday and hopefully get it in the mail on Monday or Tuesday before I leave for Denver on Wednesday.

Happy Running!

All the best going out to Claudia!
Don't put me in for the skirt--I already have that exact one.

Hope your friend is feeling well soon. I would love to believe running will protect me from heart disease but it is not that simple, is it.

I don't look good in pink, so give the skirt to someone more worthy than I!

Claudia will be in my prayers! How scary...especially when one is so in shape and proactive about health.

I will also send you some comforting prayers. I know it is very hard when the ones close to us are hurting or in trouble.

Best wishes for your running friend. However a friend of mine keeps on running after 2 heart surgeries: also whole marathons.
I don't look good in pink too....better my usual black.
