1010 Miles In 2010 Update

Whew!  Halfway through the year already.  When I look at the next couple months and all the travel for work I have planned, it's already September. Where does time run to?

Back in January, Katye, AKA Long Legs on the Loose proposed a challenge.  Run 1010 miles in 2010 and win a gazillion dollars and be forever young and happy.  Wanting all those things I signed up.  Last year I really had to push it at the end to get 1000 miles.  I went for a run at 10pm at night to get in a couple miles that last week of December but I made it.  Back in early December 2009 when I put together my 101 things in 1001 days, I already had run 1000 miles in 2010 so signing up for 1010 miles was easy.

As of June 30th I'm 64% of the way to reaching that goal.  I've run 636 miles and only have 374 miles to go.  That works out to 14.38 miles a week for the rest of the year.  That is super doable.  I'm averaging 25-30 miles a week right now which means I could be hitting the 1010 the end of October.  Naturally unforeseen events could change that and I am doing a lot of travel through the summer which may limit the number of miles. But the good news is that I'm ahead of target and have 26 weeks to run and hit my goal.

Are you trying to hit a number of miles goal for the year?  Where are you at the halfway point?

Happy Running!

I'm trying for 1200 miles in 2010 and right now I'm a bit behind at 570. Since I'm getting in more mileage during the better weather I am still thinking it's realistic (with focus). I had the same goal last year and got real close but didn't make it.

Way to go Christina! I knew you'd get here with no problem. I had a few hiccups the last couple of months, and I'm at less han 50%, but I think I'll be able to push through it and hit 1010 by end of December.

I'm trying to hit 1600+ and I am close to the halfway point. But I am presently training for a marathon so even though I am slightly less than half I think I will make it.

We are about even; I have just shy of 700 logged to date. I had been hoping to get to 1500 this year, don't know if I will make it.

Did you make your lodging reservations for Boston yet?

I was hoping to get 1000 miles for the year again, but at this rate, I'm going to have to pass on that (unless I count my swim/bike miles).

Good job on your progress!

Nice job on the mileage! I've had 1000 miles as a goal before, but never done it, thanks to injuries. Now, my coach is building my base up uber-slow, so I'll probably hit between 500-600 running miles this year. But I bet all my crosstraining miles will probably surpass 1000, which I'll settle for this year.

I am also trying for 1010 miles. I know I won't make it, but I will be super excited with how many miles I do put in by then.

Congrats on your miles so far!

Oh you so got this. It's funny, since started working with Heart Rate zone training, the actual miles is less important that HR and time. Nonetheless, I'm sure I'll up the miles at the end of the year. My goal? Well, by blog is called BQ or Die :-)

i hope i get a share of the gazillion dollars! :)

i just want to beat my '09 miles - i'm a little under halfway, so it's going to take some effort to crank out enough miles in the 2nd half of the year!
