Freeze Your Thorns Off 5K

Even the cold spell in Arizona couldn't keep us Arizonites from running together in the Freeze Your Thorns Off 5K put on by Adam.
A virtual race for the rest of the world, about 20 runners met at Papago Park for one of the most fun races in the state of Arizona.
"Coolest" Bib Ever in Arizona History
Adam and Lauren arrived early and marked the course to ensure none of the runners got lost or disorientated. Bib's were handed out, race instructions were given and we were off.
While waiting around for the race to start and freezing our thorns off, we introduced ourselves and asked if they had a blog (after all, many of us recognize each other by the name of the blog).

Bib's were handed out, race instructions were given and we were off.  Before long the fastest runners with Adam in the lead were heading back on the out/back course. (Rumor has it he won with an 18 something time)

At the finish line two finisher medals were available along with goodies bags, complete with junk mail and chex and possibly expired GU.

What makes this race so cool is we were a bunch of random runners that have become virtual friends through our blogs and we met to share in our running passion.  Everyone got involved, even Adams new baby wore Puma's and Johnny Cactus wore his cactus socks and posed in front of his license plate.

Many people brought additional contributions to the race: goody bags with hand drawn running cactus, homemade cookies and bread, fresh picked oranges and two kinds of finisher medals complements of Adam and Demi. Many thanks to everyone who came out and ran and a giant thank you to Lauren and Adam.  This was one of the best races!

Here are more pictures from the race. (I'm sorry that I don't remember everyone's name.  Please let me know and I'll update the caption)

Beautiful post and great group, Christina!

I'm so sorry for the man who shot Gabrielle Giffords and others, including a child who died,
at a public event in Arizona.
Six have been declared dead!
