Day One of HBBC Challenge

There is no better way of going through the holidays than with the HBBC challenge to keep me focused.  HBBC stands for Holiday Bootie Buster Challenge and is sponsored by Run to the Finish.  Starting November 19 through January 6th I'll get points for doing what I love...RUNNING.  I'll have lots of opportunities to win prizes too. I LOVE to win prizes.

To start off the challenge I went out for a 10 mile run.  The first 1 mile was tough, achy and I had some serious discussions going on in my head.  Around mile 4.5 I went off to find some friends that were starting running at 7am.  I was at a turn around point so I knew I wouldn't run long with them but wanted to do something different.  It was a big group and even Hunter was out running.  It's hard to complain that 7am is too early, especially in the winter when the weather is awesome so Hunter was out.  My trying something different to run a bit with friends turned my 10 mile run into a 12 mile run. Love it!

I'm feeling good. Cautious, but good about my running.  I've had two weeks of minimal, relatively slow, running without incident.  Calf is good. IT is good. All is good.  On Monday I'll go back to track and TRY to ease into it.   That's one of my problems...things are black/white...on/off...run hard/not at all.

Back to the challenge.  I have 12 points now and can earn another point each day if I eat 7 servings of fruits/veggies.  I also want to take this time to minimize the sweets.  Store bought sweets I'll can usually say no to.  Homemade sweets I'm a sucker for and they are so good. I also enjoy baking so I'll find a balance there somewhere. I won't get points for cutting out sweets but I'll feel better overall.

It's not too late to join the HBBC challenge and stay active during the holidays.

Happy Running!
