Tempo Run

I've mentioned this before but a tempo run is my least favorite. Last night I went out for a run and 1/2 mile into it I decided to make it a tempo run.  My last tempo run was in January so I knew to keep the mileage/time low, not to mention that I'm lazy and don't want to work that hard.  I ran at a 7:35 pace for 1.4 miles and it felt great.  I love it when my focus is there and I can run with good form(or so I think its good form) and run fast.  Next week I'll increase the mileage some and keep working my way up to 3 miles.

Do you do tempo runs?  Do you like them? How long or how many miles do you run?

On a side note, don't you just love what Google does with their header?  Last week was the best, with the PacMan game.

Happy Running!

You are brave. I'm no fan of any speed workouts. I do a 6.2km (3.8 mile) tempo type run once a week, but not during my trail season.

I am a fan of the tempo run! But, only beacause it usually means I get my runs done faster! Same for track workouts :)

I am horrible at tempo runs! I think I complain the most while I am doing them. My running partner does not like doing them with me either. I feel your pain!

I dread speedwork days and tempo run days until I start running and then I have fun with it.

I am not great about doing temp runs, but throw one in every once in a while. I usually do a 5K. Loved the pac man too. :)

Good work Christina! I think we need tempo run twice a month. The body sometimes needs different challenges.
Have a nice running weekend!

I always enjoy seeing what Google comes up with. And I absolutely hate tempo runs.

I *love* tempo runs. By definition, a tempo run isas far as you can run in an hour (for most folks right around 10K). But I've done tempo *style* runs of up to 14 miles when training for a marathon.
